Neil Sutherland Architects were commissioned by the land owner to design a scheme for seven houses at Tower Road, Woodside of Culloden.
Planning conditions stated that these plots had to have single storey houses in order to preserve the view of the adjacent houses.
NSA proposed a scheme of three and four bedroom courtyard houses with a high level of site landscaping. Roofs were to be a combination of flat and monopitch with a sedum finish.
Rendered blockwork and timber walls create enclosed outdoor spaces and gave a harmonious rhythm and unique sense of place to the street elevation sadly lacking from the neighbouring properties.
High levels of insulation were proposed to eliminate the requirement for central heating.
The scheme was on the verge of being granted planning approval when the land owner decided to withdraw the application for financial reasons.
